A demonstration seminar on vegetable growing was held in Gijduvan

A regional demonstration seminar dedicated to planting potatoes was organized in the fruit and vegetable cluster in the form of “Usmon Sher Shamshod” LLC in the Gijduvan district of the Bukhara region. It was attended by deputies of the regional khokim for agriculture and water management, enterprises and organizations involved in the agrarian complex, heads of territorial sectors, heads of farms, and representatives of commercial banks.

The event was opened by Amrillo Nazarov, Deputy Khokim for Agriculture and Water Management. According to information, last year, potatoes were grown on 130 hectares of main farms in the region, as well as 188 hectares of orchards and vineyards, from which 4,581 tons of harvest were obtained. Taking into account the needs of the population and in order to sharply reduce the import of products from abroad this year, the total area under potato cultivation has been increased to 430 hectares. In addition, it was emphasized that this year each farm should grow potatoes on at least 50 hectares, and each household should grow 2-3 hectares.

After that, the officials of the regional department of the State Enterprise "Center for the Development of Seed Production", the Bukhara Scientific Experimental Station of the Academician M. Mirzayev Research Institute of Horticulture, Viticulture and Winemaking, the regional "Agrokimyohimoya" JSC, the "IFODA" company, and the "Usmon Sher Shamshod" LLC fruit and vegetable cluster spoke about the necessary agrotechnical measures and their effectiveness when planting vegetables, potatoes and melons in open fields and between rows of orchards and vineyards, as well as the advantages of protecting crops from pests. Importantly, as every year, it was decided to organize a house-to-house planting of tomorrow's potatoes in the neighborhoods within a month, that is, until March 10. Experts admit that, taking advantage of the favorable agrotechnical conditions, it was decided to grow vegetables on 5,838 hectares and melons on 2,446 hectares this season.

For the cultivation of tomorrow's potatoes and obtaining higher yields, such varieties as "Zarafshon", "Arnova", "Bahro-30", "Red-Skarlet", "Sante", "Alvara", "Memphis", "Binella", "Kosmos", "Karatop" with a growing season of up to 90 days were selected. Also, for tomorrow's potatoes, land freed from melons, onions, cabbage, evening primrose, carrots and legumes will yield high yields.

At the demonstration seminar, the attendees were given a special explanation on the exemplary preparation of land in the regions, the supply of mineral fertilizers and quality treated seeds for the planting season, the organization of regular irrigation of planted areas, as well as the agrotechnical methods of planting between rows.
